The Leader told us in the Cabinet Meeting 5th November 2012 that the Inspector would have to make the final
Decision on whether these sites are developed. It appears this was untrue. The Friends of Speckled Wood Management
Trust has served statements to the Council in support of the Public’s view that Speckled Wood should be removed from
this process. Public opinion totalled 1323 Reponses, 99 % of the Consultation asking for this Woodland to be removed
and protected in 2014 from the Revised Submission DMP (Local Plan) . There are extensive tunnels and protective species
on this site.
On the 20th of November 2014 the Consultation period ends and no further discussion will be heard.
Since the your Council decided to put the future of Speckled Wood, Ancient Woodland into the Revised Submission Development
Plan (local Plan) The Friends of Speckled Wood Management Trust want you to say NO DEVELOPMENT in the Woodland. Recently at
the Planning Committee Meeting where an outline application to develop the Victoria Avenue site for 34 houses and flats was being
considered, Cllr. M Wincott moved a motion to oppose the development, saying that the whole of Speckled Wood should remain
undeveloped.Planning Application HS/0A/14/00876 was announced to the Trust and Charity 3rd November 2014 and is for Land at Church
Street, Hastings and Village Green in Clifton Road for five dwellings.
